State Rep. Jason Sheppard was first elected to serve the 56th District in the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2014. The 56th District encompasses most of Monroe County including the townships of Milan, Dundee, Summerfield, Whiteford, Bedford, Erie, LaSalle, Ida, Raisinville and a portion of Monroe.
Prior to being elected to the House of Representatives, Sheppard served two terms as a Monroe County commissioner, acting as chairman of the Physical Resource Committee. He served on the Finance Committee, 911 Board, Streamlining Development Committee and Economic Development Committee (EDC).
In his four years in the House of Representatives, Sheppard has served on several policy committees, allowing him to learn a great amount about issues impacting the residents of the 56th District. Sheppard currently is a member of the House committees on Communications & Technology, Health Policy, and Tourism & Outdoor Recreation.
Sheppard graduated from Whiteford Public High School and attended Michigan State University and the University of Toledo. He and his wife of 16 years, Melissa, reside in Temperance.
